  • Description: Embed audio music into the Wiki page via the music player provided by the Odeo.
  • Purpose: music or sound is one of the effective approaches to present your information to the audience. Besides, music or sound can make your site more attractive to its readers.
  • Syntax:

To embed audio use [[embedaudio]] ... [[/embedaudio]] and the html embedding code found on the audio hosting website.

The Wikidot currently supports only the following site:
Odeo.com
Studio.odeo.com (This site also belongs to the Odeo, but it is for managing and editing your recorded / linked music files on Odeo.com)

E.g.

[[embedaudio]]
<embed src="http://www.odeo.com/flash/audio_player_standard_gray.swf"
quality="high" width="300" height="52" name="audio_player_standard_gray"
align="middle" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="audio_id=99133&audio_duration=282.0&valid_sample_rate=true&external_url=http://www.vitalpodcasts.com/FileSystem/podcasts/89/opensource_episode1.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" />
</embed><br /><a style="font-size: 9px; padding-left: 110px; color: #f39;
letter-spacing: -1px; text-decoration: none" href="http://odeo.com/audio/99133/view">
powered by <strong>ODEO</strong></a>
[[/embedaudio]]
  • Example:

At first, you need to create an account at the site, "http://studio.odeo.com". After that, you need to enter the “Link to Audio” under the “My Audio” column. Here, you will be required to put the name and source (URL) of your MP3 file. Here is a sample source of the MP3 song: "http://nhatluong.wikidot.com/local--files/start/Neptune.mp3". Then, you should click on the “Saved Audio” under “My Audio”, here you will see all of your posted MP3 files on Odeo arranged in the playlist. For instance, you will select the song, “Neptune” as showed in the above source. After that, a new page containing this song's information will open, so you will need to copy the code in order to embed the player bar of this song into the Wikidot site as mentioned in the Syntax section above. Here is the code for the player provided by Odeo:
<embed src="http://odeo.com/flash/audio_player_gray.swf" quality="high" width="322" height="54" name="odeo_player_gray" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="always" wmode="transparent" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashvars="type=audio&id=14839133" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" /></embed><br /><a style="font-size: 9px; padding-left: 110px; color: #f39; letter-spacing: -1px; text-decoration: none" href="http://odeo.com/audio/14839133/view">powered by <strong>ODEO</strong></a>

In fact, you can choose many types of the music player for your MP3s posted on Odeo e.g. different colors for the player bar, different sizes or automatically playing, etc… (please refer to studio.odeo.com for further instructions)
After completing all of the steps above, the player of the song “Neptune” provided by Odeo will be embedded into the Wiki page as follows:

Sorry, no match for the embedded content.
  • Link: the followings are some instructions on embedding audio files into your personal pages.
